Proud stalk that rises from your father’s loins
The rain that issues from the thunder cloud
The sleek showers sowing the fertile ground
Where sweet water gushes upon silent rocks
And the world thrives, ripe with new life.
You hold the potent cup to our lips
A heady fluid we cannot grasp
A sip–
A taste–
A river of life moving within us
An ecstacy without drug
Only but of your love
And a promise given.
