Socrates’ Invocation of Pan

Friend Pan, and all who are gods of this place [the banks of the river Ilissos], grant me to become fair within. Let all that I have without be friendly to my inner state. May I believe the wise man rich. May I have such quantity of gold as would attract the trafficking only of the moderate man.
