Independence Day

(July 4) The second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence without dissent on July 4, 1776.  The then thirteen states of America claimed their independence from Britain and, although an armed conflict was inevitable, they persevered and the United States of America was born.  Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate their freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings.

American Hellenes naturally celebrate their nation’s independence, adding prayers to Zeus.  As well as social activities, take part in parades and other civic programs and review the documents (http://www.usacitylink.com/usa/) that are the foundation of the nation.
